Attractive Handmade Decorations for the Home

Look what the postie bought…..

Phew, end of another week eh? – How was the week for you?  As you know I had such good intentions – finish my blanket, cushion using the hankies – they didn’t materialise.  The only thing I did complete was the marmalade which tastes absolutely delicious.  It’s a little runny – I still haven’t mastered the setting point yet, but heh.

After having a slightly ‘glum’ week, I was mighty glad when the postie knocked at the door – that means there’s goodies, and yes I was in for a treat – my Sarah Raven seed catalogue arrived and what a feast for the eyes.  Lots of heavenly seeds to deliberate about.

Next, was a stash of new wool.  After reading Tabiboo’s post the other day I had the urge to buy some wool – especially as it was in the sale.  My plan is to save it for if  when I learn how to crochet.

Last but by no means least was this fantastic book which I have had my eye on – Cabbages and Roses Guide to Natural Housekeeping. ‘Live a Calmer, Healthier Life Recycle and Reuse, Clean Naturally, Garden Organically’.  I can’t wait to spend some time this weekend having a good read.  I’ll share some extracts of it with you next week.

Have a fantastic weekend whatever you’re doing – we’re off roller skating with some friends.  Well, the boys and men are, my friend and I might sit, gossip and have coffee!

Sitting and having a gossip with a cuppa sounds like a great plan! I am working tomorrow (which I used to love but we have a horrible new assistant manager) and then picking up the new needs-to-be-made-over coffee table on Sunday after lunch with Mum :)

That books looks good and your marmalade I bet is delicious!

Hope you find time to relax over the weekend. Like you I made marmalade and like you I received Sarah Raven’s catalogues in the post to drool over later! Enjoy the book and also planning what to do with that lovely yarn.

  • Loving the marmalade… I wish I could pluck up the courage to give it a go… and those seed books look wonderful… I must get my arse in gear with our garden… mind you I think it will take me all of this year to get the house sorted out… and rowan and debbie bliss… fantastic… (my delivery arrived today too, but you already know that!!)
your book looks good too… I love books full of useful tips and hints.. all the things our grandparents took for granted and got discarded when we bacame a throw away society in the 50’s… and I am afraid I would be with the children and men roller skating… I love roller skating!

  • A new book and new wool – sounds like my idea of bliss! I’ll pass on the marmalade though, as not a fan of it – give me jam any day.

I went into town yesterday and popped into the wool shop to get some things for learning to crochet. The owner helped me choose a hook, some wool and a teaching book and also offered to teach me herself! All i have to do is turn up anytime the shop is open and she will guide me! How lucky is that! What a wonderful lady she is!

    Your marmalade looks so yummy!

Enjoy the coffee and chat! Sounds heavenly!

  • I even love the shelf on the cover of the book. I wonder if I can get it from the library (unless I find a book second hand, I try and borrow it to see if I want to buy).
Saturdays are great, aren’t they? xx

    Hi Sarah,
Thank you for your tip. Burford is just 18 min from where we are going to stay so I think we will be able to visit with no problems.
    Have a great weekend.

  • I got that book for Christmas, it’s great isn’t it! After watching The Day After Tomorrow this evening I’ll certainly be following some of the greener methods in my new home
