Attractive Handmade Decorations for the Home

At last – seeds!

How many times have I been getting round to doing this post, but never actually doing it!

I don’t know about you, but at this time of year I have such great intentions to sow rows and rows of seeds and watch them all sprouting, transfer them at the right time in the right spot and take glory in all that I’ve done……… reality I start off with a few seeds, they sprout, then wither and die…………

Help! – any budding gardeners out there?  Do you go for the simple approach and plant seeds directly where they will eventually flourish or do you do all the pricking out business?

I try and go for the direct approach, but end up having to transfer them anyway which is so frustrating………

I really, really want to succeed this year and I’m starting on the right foot as I’ve got a few on the go –

these are salad leaves which apparently you can pick and then grow again.

dill, rocket and chrysanthemums are here

I’ve also got all of these and don’t know what to do!  I even bought a new holder to store them in, so I have such good intentions……

Maybe I should just stick to a spot of armchair gardening instead!

Hands up – who’s off to Country Living next week?

This looks great, and a lot like my husband’s efforts, so it seems like you’re on the right track!

I’d love to join you at the Country Living fair, but it’s just too far…

Hope you get some of your owh daffodils soon.

  • I think most people learn gardening just the way you are… by doing. Although it helps to hear someone elses garden story, everyone’s situation is different.. space, nutrients in the soil, amount of sun and rain Can’t to hear about your country living fair.

  • Karens Hopes says:

Its lovely to be able to get into the garden
again I’m sure you’ll do fine with your seedlings.

  • Good luck with the veg garden – I’m pretty keen on growing veg too. The thing to remeber is not to plant the whole packet at once or everything will crop at once!
Last year, I sowed my first peas in late March – they were shooting up my mid April. I did 2 more sowings after that.I will be blogging about my veg garden as I plant so keep an eye out!

  • Sal says:

I haven’t even started my seeds yet. We’re in the middle of the great garden and greenhouse tidy up!! But when I start, I do them in the greenhouse and do all that pricking out stuff…very therapeutic!

  • I love planting seeds. I am excited that this weekend we are going to get to work on our new ‘garden’!

  • maryannlucy says:

I love doing this, but the chickens have curtailed me this year :-( I will watch everyone else do their thing instead.

  • marigold jam says:

I do so know what you mean! Thanaks for mentioning the CL fair – I had intended to go but having been so occupied these past few weeks had forgotten all about it. Will certainly be going now you’ve reminded me if I can get a seat on the daily coach to London I will go on Thursday. Might see you there perhaps!

  • I keep saying that I need to get some plants and things outside the flat! Thanks for inspiring!

I can’t be bothered with all the pricking out thing..I just throw the seeds where I want them to grow and get ones that are easy like Virginian Stocks and Love-in-the mist.
For the last three years…since we’ve had Bella…she digs up what I plant anyway so I’ve just planted in pots.I’m always amazed when anything survives in my garden!!
